Class description

MOCKERY PLAYGROUND: Experiments in Collective Chaos

This workshop explores the power of the grotesque, the ridiculous, and the wild states of being. Inspired by Bouffon, physical play, and collective creation, it invites performers to step outside familiar ways of playing and discover new, surprising colors on stage.

Outcasts from one point of view, creatures or devils from another — these figures relate to the world in a different, refreshing, and often mischievous way. They mock, celebrate, provoke, distort, and play with the rules of the world around them.

Through physical exercises, games, and group experiments, we will explore how the grotesque can unlock new possibilities for character, movement, relationship, and storytelling.

Expect a playful, vibrant, and unpredictable playground where we embrace the strange, the excessive, the uncomfortable, and the wonderfully ridiculous.

You can follow a workshop (or 2 or 3 or 4) with Daniël Orrantia on friday evening october 30, 31 & november 1 & 2. A Master of Impro, dedicated Impro instructor, and brilliant Touring Performer! With an impressive history of touring worldwide with Speechless – An Improvised Show with No Words, Daniel astounded audiences across the globe. Now, armed with a new toolbox of inspiring proposals, he embarks on a solo journey, captivating crowds with innovative and unforgettable performances and workshops.
